TWO FEES, TWO BASES

Separate the sale price from the full order value.

Whatnot commission uses final sale price. Payment processing usually uses item, buyer-paid shipping, and buyer-paid tax. The distinction belongs in the interface.

For most U.S. categories, Whatnot lists an 8% commission on final sale price and 2.9% of total order value plus $0.30 for payment processing. Coins and Money and Pallets currently use a 4% commission under stated conditions.

Commission excludes shipping and tax. Processing usually includes the item, buyer-paid shipping, and buyer-paid tax.

Why Whatnot uses two fee bases

A $100 item with $8 shipping and $7 tax has a $100 commission base but a $115 processing base. At the standard rates, that means $8 commission and $3.64 processing after cent rounding.

The seller payout shown adds buyer-paid shipping to item revenue, then subtracts the two fees. Buyer tax is not treated as seller revenue.

Category and promotional rates

Some rate reductions are limited by category, location, date, or the portion of sale price above a threshold. Choose only a rate that the official policy or your seller statement confirms.

This calculator does not implement the temporary 0% amount above $1,500; high-value sales should be checked against the current detailed policy.

What this estimate excludes

The result excludes tax on seller fees, promotions, show promotion, Boost, refunds, chargebacks, shipping-label cost, and category-specific exceptions.

The official fee page was updated in August 2026 and rechecked September 1, 2026. Use the order earnings view as the final record.

Questions, answered.

What fees does Whatnot charge sellers?

Whatnot generally charges a category commission on final sale price plus payment processing on total order value and a fixed transaction amount.

Does Whatnot charge commission on shipping?

The official fee page says commission is based on final sale price excluding shipping and taxes, while payment processing usually includes both.

Why can my actual Whatnot fee differ?

Category reductions, high-value thresholds, taxes on fees, promotions, cross-border orders, refunds, and other programs can change the order ledger.
