ONE CLEAR WORKING QUESTION

A plus sign has two distinct jobs

Component decoding preserves the original plus; form-component decoding turns only the original plus into a space.

THE FIELD NOTES

Quick answer above. Better decisions below.

Use the result now, then read the practical notes for assumptions, examples, limitations, and the choices behind it.

ONE COMPONENT, ONE PASSsku=A+9+blue&qty=2

%3D becomes =; %2B becomes +; the original literal plus stays +.

01

Decode one component, not a whole tracking plan

Paste one encoded value and choose its origin. Component mode preserves literal plus signs; form-component mode treats original plus signs as spaces. Both modes decode percent escapes exactly once and reject malformed escapes or invalid UTF-8.

02

Read the plus sign before choosing a mode

%3D becomes =; %2B becomes +; the original literal plus stays +.

03

Prepare the next campaign step

Use the UTM builder to construct a new tagged campaign destination after inspecting its encoding. When matched visits and conversions are available, the landing page conversion rate calculator measures that separate outcome.

04

Inspect content without navigating

The result is text, not a destination to visit. Escaped inspection and code-point labels make invisible characters easier to spot, but they do not prove a link is safe. Inputs stay in this page; nothing is fetched or opened.

Questions, answered.

Does decoding open the link?

No. Results are inert plain text. The tool does not fetch, linkify, open, redirect to or declare a decoded destination safe.

Why does a plus sometimes become a space?

Form-component mode replaces original plus signs with spaces before one percent-decoding pass. Component mode preserves those plus signs; encoded %2B becomes a literal plus in either mode.

Will it decode repeatedly?

No. It performs exactly one pass. For example, %252F becomes %2F rather than a slash; malformed percent escapes or UTF-8 sequences are rejected.
